What To Expect
Join us amongst the 'story of Porty Pride' exhibition for a discussion with OurStory Scotland on the politics of queer archiving. Exploring the beginnings of Porty Pride's archive to give us our context, we'll discuss why some histories get erased whilst others get recorded, why it's important to capture LGBTQ+ lives and stories, and what difference it makes to be able to see (or not see) the history of queer lives. We'll also explore the multiple, collaborative, collective nature of queer archiving - and the importance of people telling their stories in their own words.
In the second part of the event, we'll be inviting you to share and record your own queer stories of Porty and Porty Pride (whether it's your first or fifth time visiting), to add to our archive and be part of the making of queer history together.

Host: Our Story Scotland is a registered Scottish Charity (SCIO). They collect, archive and present the life stories and experiences of the LGBT community in Scotland. This involves oral history work with all ages, including the older generation, whose stories reveal the tremendous changes that have occurred in the situation of LGBT people during their lifetime.
Accessibility
Whilst Porty Town Hall is step-free and wheelchair accessible, unfortunately the Upper Hall is up a flight of stairs, and there is no lift. Chairs will be available in the space for those who’d like to use them.
