DJs, dance, doodles and dreams. A space to find your rhythm.
Venue: Portobello Town Hall
Organiser: Porty Pride
Tickets: Free - non -ticketed
Age: 16+
Event Description
The Daytime Disco with DJ Arusa Quereshi is perfect for 18+ dancers who want a shorter party experience, with the sun still shining when they leave!
Alongside the disco we are joined by We Dream Here; who will offer a neuroqueer, rest and dreaming corner. Here you can be, rest, doodle, stim, dance or leave something on the altar. There will also be invitations to remember queer ancestors and share dreams for future queer kin.
All while you enjoy the how-can-you-not-dance set from Porty Pride alum, Arusa Qureshi.
Come dance with us or chill on the We Dream Here bean bags and take the party and Arusa Queresi’s beats in.
This party is for:
Anyone who wants a day time party!
Anyone who loves to party and also needs to rest, especially disabled and neurodivergent kin.
Anyone who is curious about the We Dream Here corner
Anyone who wishes to stim, rest and chat/not chat, this is for you too.
Line Up
We Dream Here is part of ongoing project by K Biff Nicolson with Luke Pell, Frankie Mullholland, Max Alexander and collaborators presented by Independent Arts Projects.
Arusa Qureshi is a writer and music programmer who puts on gigs for anyone who will ask. Her first book, Flip the Script – about women in UK hip hop, was published by 404 Ink. Expect plenty of tunes by women and non-binary legends, including hip hop bangers, R&B edits and general pop nonsense from across the decades.
