Opportunity: Paid Design Role

Calling all designers, illustrators, creative minds!

2026 is Porty Pride's 5-year anniversary and we want to make it special. We’re seeking a designer or illustrator to collaborate with us on a joyful, inclusive set of promotional materials and anniversary merch. You’ll be provided with a budget of £400 and will work closely with the Porty Pride team to develop an exciting new design to celebrate our birthday.

About Porty Pride

Porty Pride sees community as a positive tool of activism and community-building as a powerful solution to social injustices and this sentiment is more important than ever to centre in our collective narratives.  Joy is a powerful hopeful radical force and Porty Pride has always been a space to create and foster joyful connections. This is why the Porty Pride 2026 tagline will be "Together in community, together in solidarity". It speaks to the long history and traditions of communities standing together, unafraid to navigate grief and fear and embodying hope, love, creativity and curiosity as a practice to create and make our futures a reality.

How to apply and what will be involved

  • Please submit an idea for a re-design of our logo for 2026 and/or a brief sketch of your proposal Monday 9 March 2026, and we will choose a designer from the applications we receive. We note that the design you submit might evolve and not be the final design we use, it’s just to get an idea of your aesthetic.

  • We have a budget of £400 for producing the design materials (not including printing), and we’ll ask you to invoice us. We’re a small grassroots community organisation, so we’re not able to pay market rates. Porty Pride does not wish to create or contribute to any activity which would equate to “pink washing” and as such does not accept any corporate money. All funds raised are invested back into Porty Pride to ensure its legacy, cover our costs, paying LGBTQ+ performers, speakers and activists, BSL interpreters and keeping everyone safe and sound.

  • The design lead on the Organising Committee will be your main point of contact, and you’ll work with them iteratively to reach the final designs.

  • We anticipate the majority of the work will be done during April-May 2026, and completed by May 2026 in order to allow print runs and merch creation.

  • You will be gifted one copy of each of the merch with your designs

Deliverables you will develop:

  • Bespoke limited edition 2026 t-shirt design including the 2026 tagline "Together in community, together in solidarity"

  • Porty Pride 2026 poster

  • Porty Pride 2026 welcome poster

  • Porty Pride events programme including map

Creative tone:

The Porty Pride branding and logo strongly referenced but with freedom to come up with a bespoke visual anniversary portfolio with the 2026 tagline "Together in community, together in solidarity" at its centre. Think colourful, uplifting, joyful, child-like wonder, inclusive and intersectional, intergenerational and accessible (both representational and visually).  Think big party and everyone's invited!

Please find some illustrative examples of the kind of vibe we have in mind:
